Kepler's

Kepler's Bookstore first opened in 1955. At the time, Roy Kepler's bookstore was one of 3 in the Bay Area delivering paperbacks to the masses. From the beginning the store encouraged people to come together for intellectual discourse, which included a significant anti-war element. After Roy retired, his son, Clark Kepler, continued to run the store. In 2007 the store was rescued from closing by a group of Kepler's devotees. Then in 2012 the store came under the stewardship of Praveen Madan and his wife Christin Evans, who have reorganized the store into a for-profit bookstore with nonprofit events.
