VPCC Annual Touring ride - NSW South Coast

Post date: Jun 22, 2017 5:53:38 AM

The Annual VPCC touring ride for 2017 will be held between 29 October and 9 November.

Liz and Sandra have just come back from the reccy trip and they are excited that this will be one of our best rides ever.

For those members unfamiliar with these rides, they are the equivalent of the Great Vic rides but with No Tents.

Cost for the ride is $850 including accommodation, breakfasts and some lunches and dinners. The cost also covers getting home from Merimbula by chartered bus.

Day 1 we start our ride about 1 hour train ride south of Sydney at Otford Railway Stn and hug the spectacular coast, riding across the 700mt long Seacliffe Bridge which was constructed in 2005. The scenery keeps getting better all the way to Kiama for our first nights' accommodation.

Day 2 we head off to Myola, where we take the ferry across to Huskisson to our waters edge accommodation.

Day 3 it's off to Bendalong which is another seaside town looking out onto the fabulous blue water of the Pacific Ocean.  Some more accommodation with uninterrupted views of the sea.Day 4 and 5 we'll be in Batemans Bay! Rest day here :)  With endless activities to while away the hours...... should we join the cappuccino set, shop, snorkel, swim, walk, surf, helicopter ride, watch a movie, whale watch, lay on the beach......... decisions, decisions.......

Day 6 sees us heading off to Barlings Beach.  Another small beachside town with lots to offer.  On the way today we spend a few hours at Mogo Zoo.

Mogo Zoo is a privately owned zoo that supports an amazing collection of endangered and exotic animal species. Nestled close to the Princess Hwy and just 10 mins south of Batemans Bay, the zoo is spread over many acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.

Visitors can experience the animals Up Close and Personal including meerkats, feeding a lion or tiger, or simply enjoying their affectionate red pandas.

Day 7 & 8 we stay in Narooma, again close to the sand and sea.  Again plenty of things to do like whale watching, charter a fishing boat, snorkel, art galleries, dolphin watching, shopping, eating fresh seafood.......

Day 9 and we cruise into Bermagui after riding some fabulous bike paths right next to the sand & sea.  Of course being close to the water there's plenty of birds to be seen and heard and you might even spot a whale if you look closely out over the water.  Stop and enjoy the view, take your time and look around at this fabulous scenery.

Our last 2 days will be spent in Merimbula, this time we'll be a 5 minute walk from the water. A group bbq is on the cards for the last night and prizes will be awarded to some of our 'stars' of the ride.  Plenty of good food and company, sitting relaxing at the end of another great ride.At the end of the ride we will travel back to Melbourne by bus (9 Nov). We will have a truck to provide transport for bikes and bags for the whole of the ride (Melb to Melb).

We will travel independently to the beginning of the ride.

We suggest Fly/train to Sydney and South Coast Train to Otford.

Numbers for this ride are limited, so Please contact Liz Laver on 0427310881 or vpccmail@gmail.com for more information.
