Velocity
Cliff Notes
I. Vectors
A. Velocity is represented by a vector, which looks like an arrow coming out of the object
B. Vectors tell us two things: direction and magnitude
C. Examples: person -->
car ------>
cheetah ----------->
bullet --------------->
*see "Worksheet on Vectors" below for additional explanations
II. Velocity
A. Change in position over time
B. Velocity has two components: speed and direction
C. How are speed and velocity related? See below
D. Δ position = final position - initial position
so...v = Δ position = final position - initial position = Δd
time time t
