Invitation

On behalf of Colegio Americano de Torreón I am pleased to invite you to our College Fair as part of the Mexico College Fair Tour. Our fair is open to the "Comarca Lagunera" community. 

The Comarca Lagunera is the 9th largest metropolitan area in Mexico, and is located between two states, Coahuila and Durango. 

We also make a formal invitation to various prestigious High Schools within our community and  post a full page newspaper ad which includes a list of all participating universities to invite all the community to attend the fair. 

Registration and Fees

 There is no charge to participate in our College Fair.  We are very happy and thankful for your visit.

     Colegio Americano de Torreón is a private, non-profit, non-denominational, college preparatory international school providing a bilingual/bicultural educational program to approximately 1400 students in grades Pre-Kinder to 12th grade. C.A.T. strives to be representative of the best aspects of Mexican and United States culture, language, pedagogy, and values with a major emphasis placed on the development of bilingual ability and bicultural sensitivity.

Our school is accredited by the  Secretaría de Educación  Pública (SEP)  and  Secretaría de Educación y  Cultura del  Estado de  Coahuila (SEDU). as well as by COGNIA. The last accreditation  visit from  took place  in October of 2019. In our school mission we talk about the best of North American practices, including Canada, the US and Mexico.   Schedule of Events

What We Will Provide

For each university in attendance, we will provide:

•     A table (approximately 2.44 m x 0.77 m) with a tablecloth  and a chair.

•     A sign with your school’s name

•     Bottled water, Soda, Coffee, and a lunch box.

•     Wireless internet access

What You Should Bring

We encourage you to bring printed  materials about your university’s programs. It would also be very useful to bring a  laptop or other electronic device to display on your table.  Please take in consideration that there is a limited amount of electrical outlets, so make sure your devices are fully charged.  You are welcome to bring appropriate giveaways as well. 

Workshops

College Representatives who are willing to present a workshop should apply for this in the proper section in the application form.  We would like to have a series of simultaneous workshops between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.  Also, we need a short resume of the workshop presenter that can be emailed to ana.sada@cat.mx  in advance. You will be notified if you are selected to present a workshop. 

Sending Materials in Advance

You may send any materials or packages ahead of your trip. We'll keep them for you and have them taken to your table.

Transportation

A taxi from the airport to CAT will cost approximately between $100 and $150 pesos (8-13 USD). Taxis in and around Torreón cost between $35 and $200 pesos, being distance a variable to take in account.  (2-18 USD). Our city also has Uber service.

Hotel Fiesta Inn Galerías: https://www.fiestainn.com/hoteles/fiesta-inn-torreon-galerias This hotel is 5-8 minutes away from our school and one of its best advantages is that it is located inside the most important mall in our city. So in case you have time, you can go to the movies or do some shopping or eating out.

 

Hotel Hampton Inn by Hilton Torreón: https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/trchahx-hampton-torreon-airport-galerias/  This hotel is 2 minutes away from our school and less than 5 minutes away from the airport.

 

 Real Inn Torreón: http://www.hotelesrealinn.com/destinations/torreon-en   This hotel is 10 minutes away from our school. It is located in one of the best enterntainment areas in our city, specially restaurants.

 

City Express Torreón:https://www.cityexpress.com/express/hoteles-mexico/coahuila/torreon/torreon This hotel is also 5-8 minutes away from our school and it is also located within the mall area. They usually offer good discounts.

This hotel is approximately 10-15 minutes away from our school and it's also located in a nice area.

 

 All hotels are very close to the airport. Usually a ride from any of these hotels to the airport will take from 5 to 15 minutes at most.
