  • All members of the team can participate in one form or another

Moon Rock Delivery (Engineering)

Participants: Whole school

Scoring: One submission for the whole school

Your spaceship crashed on the moon and you have to get all of the precious moon rocks back on board! Now it’s your job to earn materials and construct a catapult that can accurately launch the moon rocks back onto the loading dock of the spaceship.

Objective: To build a catapult with the given material that will launch moon rocks accurately into a set of rings. The larger the ring, the lower the amount of points the team will receive.

Tethered Takeoff (Space)

Participants: Individual, multiple submissions

Scoring: Top participant in each school will be counted in the final rank

Hello astronauts! It’s time to make your way through space! Your mission is to remain focused and complete a variety of manual tasks as quickly as possible. As you complete each objective, you’ll be required to remain tethered to the spacecraft, so you won’t drift away, while also wearing gloves to protect you from the cold, radiation and low pressure in space!

Objective: To complete a set of six space-related tasks in the fastest time possible while wearing simulated space-gear.

Great Galactic Challenge (Space, Math)

Participants: Each challenge has a different limit on the number of participants. Schools can have multiple submissions.

Scoring: The top submission for each school counts towards the total.

Compete in four different challenges throughout the day. Challenges include ideas around size and scaling of the universe, triangulation, mapping and fermi.

Objective: Complete each challenge as best as possible. The combined score from all the challenges will decide your school’s ranking.
