First weekend in Spring 2014 - perfect weather to get started

Stage 1 - put together the five kits to form a u-shaped bed. Prior to buying the kits, I used matchsticks to work out the size and shape for my small backyard. I decided on the u-shape - see below.
One long, long day later, one u-shaped garden bed and a pair of sandpaper hands. Only one minor mishap - one of the caps for the posts split! Doesn't bode well for durability! However, pretty chuffed with the end result.
All ready for stage 2 - get some growing medium in the bed. I've decided to use the no-dig concept and create my own 'soil' instead of getting potting mix.
A really good treatment for 'sandpaper' hands is to apply a mixture of olive oil and cooking salt. Massage well into the skin, then wash off and moisturise.
