-District play will start shortly: Volleyball will be at Stony Creek, Soccer at Troy Athens, Tennis starts tomorrow if they don’t get rained out.

-Missy Rissman inquired as to why the visitor bleachers are not open during volleyball games? Karyn explained they are usually not opened during girls basketball either. The main reason is it is difficult for persons with disabilities to get up the stairs on the visitor side. That is the only option for visitors when those bleachers are open to go up the stairs, therefore, they are left closed so everybody sits on one side comfortably.

New Business

• Karyn explained the coaches wish lists and what the boosters can purchased as opposed to the district making the purchase. All coaches submitted their requests. The executive board met with Karyn to go over all the requests. The members at the meeting reviewed the requests. Lisa Fromm asked what is vinyl dummies? Karyn explained they are weighted dummies used by wrestlers. Kim Talerico asked about the end zone camera? Karyn stated that it is used in the end zone and goes 20 feet in the air for a different angle then the press box cameras. For the past couple years the football team had a parent that had an end zone camera and would record all the games so the football program held off purchasing one. They are requesting one at this time. After the discussion, a motion was made by Ang Micinski and seconded by Andrea Tisch to approve all the coaches wish lists. All members were in favor. Karyn thanked the boosters for their continued support.

• Tara mentioned the game day flags. They were put up last year during the varsity football games on the fence along Shelby Rd. She asked for a volunteer to put them up the next couple home games. No one has volunteered at this time.

• Euchre fundraiser is set for March 15th, 2019 at the Shelby Gardens $25 per person in advanced $30 at the door. Andrea Tisch brought up that some people come to hang out and get asked to play and they have paid a lesser amount. It was decided by the group that everybody pays $25 in advanced and $30 at the door.

• 50/50 raffle still needs a chairperson. There is a sign up genius if you are interested in selling for homecoming. There are two people signed up at this point. Please volunteer your time! We also need volunteers for the next couple of home games. Contact Tara Powrozek if you are interested.

Also, a coffee pot plug that was repaired and a cooler has been fixed.

The May Minutes were reviewed, and a motion was made by DeeDee McCollom and seconded by Ang Micinski, voted and approved. The August Treasurer’s Report was reviewed, and a motion was made by Diann O’Conner and seconded by DeeDee McCollom, voted and approved.

Athletic Director’s Report – Mrs. Karyn Holmes

Mrs. Holmes is back at the reigns of AD after a ten year hiatus. A lot has changed in ten years like cancelling games/practices because of the heat index. Karyn explained to the group that if the heat index is 104 degrees or higher, teams cannot have a game or practice outside until the heat index comes down. She thanked everybody for their patience and making the last minute adjustments due to the heat index. That was all new for her.

Karyn highlighted each team:

    • Swim is off to a great start with a meet at Marysville

    • Golf has a new coach, Will Hewett. He is doing a great job & they are off to a great start.

    • Football has Grosse Pointe South this week

    • Soccer has its first league play in the Red

    • Volleyball opens at home this Thursday and is on the road against Ford II on Tuesday

    • Cross Country opens Tuesday

    • Tennis has had a few cancellations because of rain and the heat index

-New Scores Table (interactive screen) has been approved and purchased for the gym. The district will pay for a third of the new table with the remainder of the funds coming from Basketball, Volleyball and the Athletic Booster Club.

-Wish lists have been emailed to the coaches. Due back to Karyn by 9/24/18. DeeDee McCollom asked who receives the wish list for LaCrosse. Mr. Ed Fromm receives the email and will forward it to the coach.

-Concessions needs help on Homecoming (10/5/18). The boosters club is responsible for staffing concessions for the upcoming homecoming game. Please let the boosters know if you can help or visit the facebook page and sign up via the sign up genius.

-Andrea Tisch asked if Karyn could explain why other teams help with the concessions for football. The concessions is one of the biggest fundraisers for all of our sport teams. Not every sport has a concession stand at their event, therefore, those teams that don’t are responsible for staffing the concessions during football season. Volleyball and Basketball have their own concessions and they staff it during their season. On occasion a call for help will go out to everybody requesting to help during basketball/volleyball season. There are always many ways to volunteer your time and services.

-Diann O’Connor is requesting that coaches email the Macomb Daily with their stats. This is where Diann pulls her information from for our social media communication.

New Business

    • $10,000 raffle fundraiser letters will go out in October. Let Tara Powrozek know if you would like to put on the wait list. The raffle will be held on February 7, 2019 at the Shelby Gardens

    • Euchre fundraiser is tentatively set for March 8th, 2019 at the Shelby Gardens $25/player $20/non-player

    • Coaches wish list: Mark Moehlig was in attendance to explain his wish list to the members. He has a bid for landscaping as he does every year to maintain the Varsity baseball field. Mark’s request is different then a typical wish list in that his bid exceeds $9000. He knows this is not obtainable, but he explained he will do his part “a’la carte” based on the funds the boosters can give him. All receipt will go through the boosters for payment as Mark spends the amount allotted to him. He appreciates all that the boosters have done for him and he will always do what he can with whatever funds. Someday the field will be perfect!

    • 50/50 raffle needs a chairperson. One person expressed interest and Tara has reached out to them. The band will be selling 50/50 at the home game this week to raise funds for the band. There are two more home games, one being homecoming, 50/50 could be sold at if we can get volunteers to sell the tickets.

    • Adrianna Schulz inquired about a Spirit Rock. The group discussed that it would be school wide and maybe talk to Mr. Lietz about it first.

    • Melissa Radtke mentioned that a deposit slip will be emailed to all coaches to use when turning in money to the boosters.

Old Business

Andrea Tisch mentioned that it would be a good idea to get some volunteers to learn the opening, closing and buying for concessions. This is her last year and she is happy to train anybody. Please contract Tara Powrozek if you are interested.
