RBERS

Jane said to say hi to everyone. She has purchased a furnished condo and is adjusting to her relocation to FL.

RB CERT

Tom Lettington gave a presentation on Earthquake Preparedness.

I invited RB CERT Comm team members to join with RBERS as they can not self activate in an emergency. So far I have had no reply’s.

SOME LOCAL NETS

The San Diego Regional Emergency Response net is on Tue at 6:30PM on 147.075.

The North County Emergency Communications Net on the 2nd and 4th Wed of each month at 7PM starting on 147.03

The Escondido CERT Net is on 146.88 on Tue at 7PM.

A SSB net is another Tue net at 7-7:30PM hosted by ED, W6IPT, on 144.23U.

RED CROSS

Jerry, AK6QJ, gave a presentation on basic filters and controls that help an HF operator extract the most information from a received SSB signal. Topics include use of preamps, attenuators, filters, DSP noise reduction, noise blankers, notch filters, the IF Shift control, and AGC.

RACES

Discussed the upcoming holiday Off Road detail in the desert.

PALAMOR ARC

Jerry, AK6QJ gave the same presentation given to the Red Cross.

EARS

The Escondido Amateur Radio Society is associated with the Salvation Army and are asking visitors to bring canned goods for this years food drive.

UPCOMING EVENTS

11/24 Ham Radio Operations Day at both Fry’s. Red Cross, RACES, PARC, EARS, and several other clubs will participate.

12/7 Ham Tech License class and testing.

TRAINING

Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC) hosted the “Chain of Command during an emergency.” Basically about Ham Radio use in an emergency. Members of ARES(Amateur Radio Emergency Services). Were present for demos.

On the 6^th Mae and I were invited to tour the San Diego Northeastern police station.

State Senator Marty Block and Congressman Scott Peterson sponsored a Senior scam workshop in RP. Representatives form the CA dept of insurance, bureau of auto repair, Contractor State Licensor board, and DA office gave presentation on to prevent becoming a victims of Senior Scams.

There will be a free CPR/AED training class given on Nov 23^rd between 10:00 and 1:30AM at the RB Community Park. 18448 West Bernardo Dr. This is a 30 min session. You will not receive a Certification for this free training.

Johns wife fell and broke her hip and is recovering. John also had a fall and is in rehab.

Fritz gave information on cycling electrical breakers to loosen oxidation on the contacts.

Fritz also sent a letter to the Board of Directors of the seven Oaks community center on emergency readiness.

Dave purchased some battery holders to replace the expiring internal batteries in our HTs.
