TRAINING

Review FEMA ICS Training recommendations on the Web Site under TRAINING.

Review the RBERS ICS 213 form under FILES on the Web Site.

If you have not filled out the DSW insurance form I encourage you to do so.

We will be conducting our RBERS Drill on Oct 18th in conjunction with The Great California ShakeOut. The earthquake will take place on 10/16 at 10:16 AM. Everyone should drop, cover, and hold. The EOC for our drill will be from the Rancho Bernardo Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Rancho Bernardo CommunityPark. There will be a meet and greet of other hams from north county at 12:00. We will conduct our drill from the parking lots of the community centers. Use of radios within the centers will be optional. You can pass simulated emergency messages or damage reports resulting from the simulated earthquake.

LOCAL ORGANIZATION MEETINGS:

RB CERT

No scheduled meeting.

In Aug we attended “Point of Distribution” training on how CERT would assist with dispensing prescription drugs to 3 million San Diego residents from 12 distribution points.

When scheduled, CERT meetings are held at the Swim and Tennis Club, at 7PM in the Ceramics Room. Currently RB is attending Rancho Penasquitos CERT meetings.

RED CROSS MEETING

The Red Cross net is every Tue night at 8PM on the 147.195 (+) 114.8 RACES Repeater.

Guest check ins are first followed by member check ins by district.

RACES

A discussion on the restructuring of the RACES mission and pre-planning for the Miramar Air Show in Oct.

PALAMOR ARC

Had a presentation on the Wifi MESH Broadband Hamnet. Individuals set up wifi spots and link with others doing the same creating a failsafe communication network. 2.5 GHz and 5.8 GHz for high speed transmission. Originally using Linksys WRT54G, they are moving to Ubiquiti hardware.

ESCONDIDO EARS

EARS has a new meeting location. 900 Canterbury Pl., Suite 300, Escondido, CA 92025. Across from the MB Dealer. Aug meeting was the EARS Picnic on Aug 16th. We built Emergency antennas and held a T-Hunt. Next meeting is Sept 11th. Arrive before 7PM as door has to be maned.
