1999-2000 Pro Player Year

On October 14, 1999 the Columbus Blue Jackets unveiled their jersey for the first time in front of a crowd of 4,500 people at the Easton Town Center on the east side of Columbus. These first jerseys were made by Pro Player and were used for the unveiling, press conferences for the first free agent signings and for early player and Stinger appearances, but were never used on the ice in an NHL game. At the unveiling John H. McConnell (majority owner of the team) and other members of the owners group were given jerseys numbered "00" and had the NHL 2000 patch on the right lower shoulder. The NHL 2000 patch was only used for this event and all other Pro Player jerseys went without one.
