Every captain of the 30 NHL teams wore these patches for one game in January of 2001 (Odelein), 2002 (Odelein), 2003 (Whitney), 2004 (Richardson) and 2008 (Foote) on their jerseys to support the NHL/NHLPA Hockey Fights Cancer foundation. After they were worn the jersey were sold at auction.

In preparation for the 2007-2008 season's change over to the Reebok Edge Jersey the team made up a set of 6100 3rd jersey to be used in case the new Edge jerseys were not ready for the start of the 2007 preseason. This set was made up from a number of sources including game worn jerseys from previous seasons, old team issued stock and from retail stock. Some of these jerseys were tagged as 2006-2007, on some the set tag was x'ed out with red sharpie and some had retail tags in the collar. The jerseys ended up never being worn because the Edge jerseys were ready for the start of the season.

But with the cancellation of the game due to the NHL Lock Out this patch was only used on Blue 2012 NHL Draft Jerseys. These jerseys were all numbered 12 for the year and were worn by the following draft picks: Murray, Dansk, Korpisalo, Anderson, Zaar, and Curcuruto.
