2017-2018 to 2023-2024 Adizero Years

2017-2018

Starting in 2017-2018 Adidas became the jersey supplier for the NHL.  These new jerseys, know as the Adizero, use a new cut and new materials.  The over all design of the jersey was unchanged from the previous year with only slight changes to the neck area and piping.  Also the number and name font changed for the first time since the inaugural season.  The numbers and captains letters were all single layer sublimated with the numbers being perforated. (see Font Charts page)  The name plate used single layer letters sewn to a jersey colored plate.  For all games played thru December 16th (away set 1, away auction set, home set 1 and home auction set) the jerseys had the same Centennial patch from the 2016-2017 season sewn on the right arm.  The Jerseys set was noted in the collar of the jerseys.  Road Set 1 had the number one written in the center of the collar, Home Set 1 had one dot written next to the size, a home and away set worn for 5 games after set 1 ended was auctioned off by MeiGray, these jerseys had two dots written next to the size, Set 2 away and home jerseys had 3 dots written next to the size and Playoff Set 3 away and home jerseys had 4 dots written next to the size. See the MeiGray Population Report for full details on the different sets. Population Report

2018-2019

For the 2018-2019 season the home and away jerseys stay the same from 2017-2018, but the 3rd jersey made its return.  For this season there were 4 sets of home jerseys, Set 1 had a single dot written on the collar, Set 2 had two dots, the "Jersey Off Our Backs" Set used a special set tag and Set 3 had 3 dots.  There were 4 sets of white jerseys, Set 1 had nothing written on the collar, Set 2 had two dots, the MeiGray Auction Set had no writing and Set 3 had 3 dots.  There were three sets of 3rd jerseys, Set 1 had a single dot written on the collar, the MeiGray Auction Set had no writing and Set 2 had 2 dots.  New for this season was the use of multiple set tag designs that were used randomly thru out the sets.  See the MeiGray Population Report for full details on the different sets. 2020-2021

For the 2020-2021 season the jerseys remained the same as 2019-2020, but the home, road and 3rd jerseys had a 20th Anniversary patch on them.    For this season there were 2 sets Home jerseys, Road jerseys, 3rd jerseys and Reverse Retro Jerseys.  The set number is noted as dots on the collar near the Adidas logo.  See the MeiGray Population Report for full details on the sets.  Population Report For this season Adidas unveiled the NHL wide Reverse Retro jersey program.  The Reverse Retro jersey takes elements of the early Blue Jackets Jerseys, but in a "Reversed" color.   The number and letter font on the Reverse Retro jerseys is the same font that was used on Blue Jackets jerseys until the 2017-2018 Season.  The Reverse Retro jerseys were worn with Blue Pants and for one road game in Carolina on May 1st 2021 the Blue Pants were worn with the white road jersey.  The blue pants with the white jersey may make a return in 2022-2023.

2021-2022

For the 2021-2022 season the jersey design stayed the same, but the material of the jerseys was changed to the new ADIZERO Primegreen material that is made from 50% recycled content.  The ADIZERO jerseys have a logo tag on the bottom back tail of the jersey.  ADIZERO Press Release   Also, with the material change the shoulder patches and the crest were updated to what Adidas calls Dimensional Embroidery  .  Like in other years the set numbers were noted in the collar with dots or the number 4.
