THE SHARK

OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON:

  • to improve the students' writing skill

  • to develop the students' creativity

  • to make the students work in teams

ACTIVITY 1 : PRESENTING THE TASK

The teacher shows the students a picture and starts a convesation based on it.

The students use their mobile phones to make their own research work :

Listening/Watching: Youtube Video

Possible questions:

"Do you believe that the image is real?"

"What would you do, if you were the owner of the house?"

"Would you like to find out more about it?"

ACTIVITY 2 : MAKING THE TEAMS

The teacher asks the students to make teams of 4, making sure that the special needs students are not left out

ACTIVITY 3 : THE WRITING TASK

Write a story in which to explain how the shark ended up into the roof of the house.(150-180 words)

*if you want a more challenging task, you can have a specific beginning /ending to the story ( eg. "It was a beautiful Sunday morning and there was an awkward silence around our house."


ACTIVITY 4 : READING THE STORIES

Each team will have a representative reading the story to the class. They can also make a ppt presentation or a short movie with their story , for originality. You can make it a contest, with secret voting and a prize, if you want to. Or you can make a printed brochure with their stories and their names included, as a product of the activity.
