A Modern Fairy Tale


Objectives:

- the students will develop the listening skill;

- the students will work on their writing skill ;

- the students will communicate in English, in order to do a task.


Activities:

Activity 1. Establishing the main features of a fairy tale and its specific language (Brainstorming)

- the students will identify a few fairy tales and will determine the specific features of a fairy tale (" Once upon a time...", " And they lived happily ever after...")

- the students will name a few fairy tales and a few characters (their favourites): Cinderella, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood etc

Timing: 5-10 minutes

Activity 2. The students will watch a couple of "modernised" or "updated" fairy tales

Timing: 25 minutes

Activity 3. Identifying the modern elements in the classical fairy take/story

- the setting is modern;

-the clothes are modern;

-the gender change is modern; etc

Timing: 5 minutes

Activity 4. In pairs, the students will be asked by the teacher to choose a fairy tale and to make it modern. This will be their homework for the next lesson, when they will have to present their modern fairy tale.

Timing: 5-10 minutes
