Robson Ranch RC Club Support of the Civil Air Patrol in Eloy

The Robson Ranch Radio Control Club was instrumental in forming an aviation education program with the Eloy school district. Flying members of the club worked with the school to implement a training program that included academics, flight simulators and RC plane flying. The program was hugely successful and eventually developed into a local squadron of the US Air Force's Civil Air Patrol. Members of the RC Club have stayed active with the squadron, providing support and assistance to these young aerospace enthusiasts.

In June, 2021, the Club approved the development of a 'scholarship' program. The first recipients of the scholarship were two members of the Eloy CAP. The first awards were made in the Spring of 2022. Initial plans were for one or more $500 checks to be awarded to Junior Cadets or Senior members to use to pursue their education or military service.  We were able to award the two cadets with checks for $750 each at our RC Club awards dinner.

Our initial goal was to raise $2500 for the first year. We have exceeded this goal. As this program continues, monies will be raised through free-will offerings from members at the club's flying and off-road car racing events, raffles, and donations from the public. If you would like to donate to the cause - please send a check made out to Robson Ranch RC Club to our treasurer:

Robson Ranch RC Club

The Robson Ranch Radio Control Club was instrumental in forming an aviation education program with the Eloy School District. Flying members of the Club worked with the district to implement a training program that included academics, flight simulators and RC plane flying. The program was hugely successful and developed into a local squadron of the U.S. Air Force’s Civil Air Patrol.

In 2021, the RC Club approved the development of a scholarship program for members of the CAP squadron. Monies are raised through free-will offerings from Club members, auctions, raffles and public donations. In March of 2022, the two inaugural recipients of these $750 scholarships were Juan Carlos Avitia and Michael-Anthony Rodriguez.

According to Squadron Commander Kevin Rattey these two Cadets, with the aid of our club’s scholarship awards, successfully attended Officer Training last summer. As a result, Cadet Avitia has received a full scholarship to ASU for Aeronautical Engineering. No doubt the result of his time in CAP and his Officer Training.

“Congratulations and a thank you goes out to all members of the Robson Ranch RC Club for helping shape this young man’s future.” - Commander Rattey
