If you are looking to get rid of something that is still usable, but aren't necessarily looking to make money, then Freecycle is the site for you. Click on the link above to see the Meriden-area Freecycle page (Wallingford does not have its own group yet). If you are looking for something in particular, you can post a "Wanted" request and someone may contact you looking to get rid of the particular item.

Single-Stream Recycling

Wallingford residents using AllWaste, Inc. can participate in single-stream recycling, which makes recycling more effective and easier for residents. Rather than separating your plastic, glass, and paper into various bins, everything can be mixed together in a single bin. Many people are unaware of just how much waste can actually be recycled.

While regulations vary based on your trash collector, a basic guide on what is and is not accepted can be found below.

    • Paper - YES = Newspaper, Cardboard, Boxes, Mixed Paper, Office Paper, Magazines, Junk Mail, Receipts.

NO = Food wrappers, Paper Towels, Any of the above paper that is contaminated with food waste.

    • Bottles and Cans - YES = Rinsed out juice cartons and canned food items, Aluminum Cans, Jars, Bottles.

NO = Containers with food or drink residue. (*Note* Labels do not need to be removed).

    • Plastic - YES = Food and drink containers with ANY number on the bottom (#1-7)
