Comparing sites

Once the planting and recording schedules have been standardised the way is clear for a comparison between nectar points in relation to differences in urbanisation. This is fundamentally a map-based study and a mapping framework for the city of Cardiff, according to the degree of urbanisation, is presented as an example in Figs 2 to 6. The maps are screen captures taken from an interactive web application for communities. The city is relatively small, with distinct historical urban developments evident in its central terraced streets and gardens which by 1855 were being built on farmland. Peri-urban communities to the north and west dominated by estates of bungalows were developed in the 1920s.Regeneration of the steel works and docklands in the 1990s produced a central mix of apartment blocks and business parks.
