Event Rules

General Rules:

1) Challenges may list exceptions to these general rules, if there is a discrepancy between these general rules and challenge specific rules, the challenge specific rules will be used.

2) Robots must be programmed to work autonomously - NO REMOTE CONTROL. 

3) Robots for all challenges are intended to be designed, built and programmed by the participants.    

4) Robots must be safe for use in the challenges. If a question about the safety of a robot comes up, then a meeting of adult team advisors will be called to review the robot and offer suggestions to make the robot safe or make the decision to prohibit the robot from participating. Advisors and coaches should take every precaution to ensure students design and build safe robots. 

5) The size of the robot must fit the size restriction of 12" x 12" x 12"  except for sumo bots which are limited to 10" x 10" x 10"

 Division 1: LEGO only. 

All physical pieces used to construct the robot MUST be made by LEGO™ and be in factory condition. 

Non LEGO decorations (Logos, flags, etc) may be placed on the robot, but they can NOT enhance the performance of the robot.

Only one programable brick may be used in any challenge.  

Programmable bricks of any generation may be used. 

The robots may be programmed using any method or software available.

Division 2: OPEN - 

Any programming or construction or combination of robotic systems may be used. 

Robots must be safe for use in the challenges. If a question about the safety of a robot comes up, then a meeting of adult team advisors will be called to review the robot and offer suggestions to make the robot safe or make the decision to prohibit the robot from participating. Advisors and coaches should take every precaution to ensure students design and build safe robots.        

Robots entered in the LEGO only division may also be used in the open division.
