biography

Sydney's bushland fringe was Jenny's playground as a child. Home is now a beautiful rural property located in the sub-tropical Northern Rivers area of NSW where birdsong and the hum of insects provide the perfect soundtrack for creating art.

Jenny works predominately with printmedia, producing both 2D and 3D works and artist’s books. Her artwork is underpinned by a fascination and respect for the diverse beauty and complex relationships inherent in the natural world.

In 1992 she completed a Bachelor of Arts at The University of New England, Northern Rivers Campus, where she graduated with First Class Honours and was awarded The University Medal. In 1996 she completed a Master of Arts at Southern Cross University.

Jenny often uses the process of collage to build up complex and intricate images which interweave personal stories with universal themes. The use of metaphor and symbols has become an integral part of her work.

In her last four solo shows (Array, 2014, Tweed River Regional Gallery; Folly, 2015, Port Jackson Press Print Gallery, Pollinate, 2018, Grafton Regional Gallery and Bloom, 2019, PG Printmaker Gallery,) she highlighted the decline, and the importance, of the pollinating insects and birds, which are necessary to plant reproduction and the ongoing diversity of the planet.

During her career Jenny has exhibited regularly throughout Australia and has held twelve solo shows. She has also had work acquired in many national art competitions and exhibitions. Her artwork is held in both public and private collections in Australia and overseas, including the National Gallery of Australia, the State Library of Queensland, the London Print Studios Workshop and numerous other public collections hold examples of her work.

She has been selected as a finalist on a regular basis in many of the major print award exhibitions offered within Australia including The Silkcut Award for Linocuts (Vic), the National Works on Paper Award (Vic), the Fremantle Print Award (WA), the Mackay Artist’s Book Award (Qld) and The Burnie Print Prize(Tas).

In 2008 and 2017 she was commissioned to create an edition of prints for The Print Council of Australia. In 2011 she was successful in securing an artist’s residency at the highly respected Australian Print Workshop in Fitzroy and in 2015 she was offered an artist’s residency by Inkmasters in Cairns.

In 2019Jenny had two prints purchased for the Parliament House Art Collection in Canberra. These artworks were part of the Print Council of Australia’s fiftieth anniversary exhibition, ‘Imprint: A survey of the Print Council of Australia’.

She is represented by Port Jackson Press Print Gallery and PG Gallery in Melbourne.
