Becoming A Digital Nomad

In February 2013 I decided that I wanted to travel full time as a digital nomad. But the big question then was how do I become one? Where should I start searching for information? Are there others who do this?

First Stop

My first stop was the library for the book “What is your excuse?” and googling people who travel full time and how they pay for that life. I started contacting some of them for tips.

A New World

A whole new world opened up for me by talking/ emailing them. They gave me many tips and contacts to explore further. With these contacts and information came more contacts and more information. For an infobate like me, this was heavenly!

The Start

Now two weeks before departure (November 2013), I start to taste my digital nomad lifestyle. For this I started a major cleaning. This is a handy side effect of becoming a digital nomad. As a result, I also became a minimalist and with cleaning, space was created not only because of the things that went away, but also in my mind to think.

Accidental Job Offers

When talking to these experienced travelers, one of them offered me a job in a foreign country. I declined, but wondered for a while about how it would be, but no regrets. Even on my travels I get offered a lot of jobs in the tourist and marketing sector. I always declined, because it was staying on the remote place or local. I wouldn't mind blogging for some of these places or making tourist brochures and then go back to my home in Utrecht region. With COVID could it be possible to do this for them location independent?
