Thriving ‘Hanzesteden’

The Netherlands is a nation of ‘handel’ (trade) in every corner of the world. They had the first ‘beursgenoteerde’ (listed) firm, VOC. All this led to thriving cities and authentic Dutch products. To trade a few cities started working together in the 'Hanzeverbond'. On the high of the Hanze time there were 150 cities connected in this trade union. By working together they kept the cost low, and the merchants could travel together and keep each other safe. The Hanze time is an important part of Dutch history. It is even part of the Canon.

Typical Dutch Products Of ’Hanzesteden’

I am going to visit each of the Dutch cities which are called ‘Hanzesteden’ to see on which product they thrived during Hanze time, what their relationship was with trade in faraway places. The Dutch Hanze cities are centered around the rivers IJssel and Rijn in the Eastern part of The Netherlands. Of course this project is getting a Databeet stamp because there will be DataViz about my rediscovery of the ‘Hanzesteden’. A Guiselaine product is nothing without a walk. I am hiking a few of the hikes the traders and ‘Marskramers’ (hawkers) did in Hanze time between the ‘Hanzesteden’. On my walks I will stop and taste some of the Hanze products, which are still produced in the cities. Not all the products have survived history after the Hanze time.

‘Hanzesteden’ In Germany & Belgium

The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany have a good business relationship with each other. Product are traded and shipped between them back then in Hanze time and now. I curious which ‘Hanzesteden’ there where in Germany and Belgium and how they were connected to the Dutch ‘Hanzesteden’. Also I would like to know which products the ‘Hanzesteden’ in Germany and Belgium produced. For answers I will be traveling to these Germain and Belgium cities after getting to know the Dutch 'Hanzesteden'.
