If you get the diode in module with glass lens it will have the G-Ball can removed making the diode open can but you can also get the in module with leads which has two options one with the can removed so you can use glass lenses or the G-Ball intact which makes the unit a fixed focus laser. If you go with an option to remove the G-Ball It is more susceptible to particles or other things getting in the module when the lens is out so be conscious of this whenever you remove the lens as damage can occur if something gets in there.:)

The 20mm and 25mm Copper with Driver Shelf options have a pocked machined to thermally bond a compact driver in the back of the module for higher current builds

All the drivers I carry except the Blackbuck 8M will work as a compact driver for the above configurations

1W NUGM01T 520nm Laser Diode

Finally got some free time and did some testing of the NUGM01T diode. This is with a G-2 lens ball lens removed. As others have noted this is slightly less powerful than the NDG7475 diode but not by much. The diode seems to have the same beam profile and divergence of the NDG7475. Looking at the dye it does have one less bond wire than the NDG7475 which possibly is why it is slightly less powerful.

So the efficiency drops off pretty steep after 2.4A and a peak of just over 1400mW.
