What's it like at the club?

So, what is it like attending a swimming gala?

We asked Daniel and Ellie who are members of Ashbourne Swimming Club and regularly attend galas. Daniel said,

“I enjoy swimming but like attending galas as it feels good to beat your own personal best time.”

Ellie, pictured here winning gold at the recent MAD Open Meet in March this year, likes the friends she has met through swimming and enjoys chatting and meeting up with them at galas and training.

“It is fun doing something you like with friends.”

After swimming with the club for a couple of years and attending galas, Ellie was asked to join the county training squad and now trains with Derventio Excel but still joins the Ashbourne team at galas and events.

Competition is a big part of the club and motivates progression, but many members simply enjoy the social and fitness benefits of being in the club. The club prides itself on not being pushy and does not insist on all members attending galas.

If you would like the opportunity to compete at galas or just make some friends, the club are looking for new members. Request a free trial or simply register your interest to find out more - HERE.

What our members say...

Swim club is great because it helps you get fit and is fun. I also like getting to make new friends! I love going to galas so I can challenge myself and see if I can improve my times“ Jacob, swimmer.

"My son joined Ashbourne Swimming Club last year. He loves coming, has lots of fun and has made many new friends. As a parent, I've seen him grow in confidence and find a great hobby that he really enjoys but also keeps him fit and healthy. " Sally parent.
