Matthew is the husband of the late Virginia "Ginny" Mecher (nee Deck) who died on October 29, 2003. He is the father of Michael (Mary Ann) Mecher and Martin (Laurie) Mecher of Lansing, Michigan. Matthew is the son of the late John Mecher and Margaret Wagner. He is the grandfather of Greg, Dan, David, Adam (Cindy), Ben, Jon (Lissa Blon) & Andrew Mecher and Merideth (Chris) Bennett. Great-grandfather of Maksen and Avery. He was preceded in death by his brother John and his sister Margaret.
Matt served in the Army during WW II. He was inducted on January 16, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio and discharged on October 27, 1945 at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. He was a technician fifth grade headquarters detachment 935th signal battalion.
Mr. Mecher worked for the Andrew Jergens company in Cincinnati for over 30 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a comestic componder for the company.

Jennifer Rene Psaki and Gregory Matthew Mecher were married Saturday evening at Woodlawn Farm in Ridge, Md. The Rev. Dr. David D. Young, a minister of the United Church of Christ, officiated.
Ms. Psaki, 31, is keeping her name. She is the deputy communications director at the White House. She graduated from the College of William & Mary.
She is a daughter of Eileen D. Medvey of Stamford, Conn., and James R. Psaki of Snowmass, Colo. Her father, a retired real estate developer, owned Groton Community and Groton Multifamily, real estate development companies in Connecticut. Her mother is a psychotherapist in private practice in Greenwich. The bride is a stepdaughter of Josiane J. Colazzo and of Robert E. Medvey.
Mr. Mecher, 33, works in Washington as the chief of staff for Representative Steve Driehaus, Democrat of Ohio. The bridegroom graduated from Northern Kentucky University.
He is a son of Mary Ann Mecher and Michael Mecher of Cincinnati, where the bridegroom’s mother is a fourth-grade teacher at Our Lady of Victory, a Roman Catholic grammar school. His father retired as a mechanical engineer for HK Systems, an industrial-equipment maker in Hebron, Ky.
