Step 1: Free reading

Read a novel of your choice, at least 20 mins everyday. If you do not have a book, please contact me.

Step 2: Create Frayer model cards

Frayer Model cards - Pick 6 words from your weekly lessons; Science, Math, ELA, Social Studies. These words should be words that you find hard, or that you really want to learn well. Words that are important to the learning you are doing in your class.

Use those words to make Frayer model cards to help you understand your work. Keep them together through the weeks. Use 10/24/7 strategies when you are done.

You can do these in your journal, by sketching out the form shown, or digitally. Access the digital copy here. When you open it, click file --> make a copy.


Step 2: Create Frayer model cards, continued

How do I know what a word means? Use the resources below to help you understand your chosen word. After carefully going through the resources, you should be able to fill in your Frayer card.

Step 3: Application

  • Go back to your text where the word came from, (Science, Math, ELA) and re-read with your new understanding. Mark the text, write or draw near the words to help your understanding.

Level up: optional extension

  • Free write 10 minutes a day about your book.

Step 4: Turn it in

To complete your assignment you only have to do the check-out form.
