Mr Dolton - Sports Coach

Jarvis Brook have achieved a Gold Sainsbury’s School Games Mark.. The Mark rewards schools for their commitment to, and development of, PE, school sport clubs and competitions. The Mark also recognises all of the hard work undertaken by staff to ensure all young people have access to a wide breadth of sports opportunities with the school.

All children have two hours of timetabled PE within the curriculum including swimming lessons. We have utilised our Sports Premium funding to employ a Specialist PE/Sports coach to provide quality PE teaching and work alongside our teaching staff to develop and support the quality of PE delivered across the school by all teaching staff. We have broadened the range of sports covered during curriculum PE, ensuring children have more opportunities than ever before to experience and enjoy PE.

We are actively involved in the local Beacon Cluster Partnership and regularly attend competitions and festivals.

The following sports are currently taught at Jarvis Brook:

  • Football, TAG rugby, hockey and basketball, hi 5 netball, gymnastics, swimming, KWIK cricket, stoolball, rounders, tennis, tri-golf, athletics, benchball, multi-skills (KS1), health and fitness and dodgeball.

Change 4 Life Clubs are run on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes to encourage even more children to become active and enjoy exercise. We also have structured lunchtime games run by our dedicated Play Leaders.
