Gaia Review 2024: Is Yoga And Streaming Media Subscription Worth It?

If you search the Internet for at-home yoga classes and meditations, you’ll probably come across Gaia.

Gaia is a wellness media company that has been around for a few years. It became even more popular in 2020 during the pandemic as people looked for ways to exercise and improve their personal development at home. In fact, Gaia reported seeing a 27% revenue boost in 2020 and ended the year with 728,000 members.

Gaia offers a variety of online content, including yoga classes, guided meditations, documentaries, films, and articles. In this review, I will explain how Gaia works, talk about the platform's key features, pricing, and share the experience of Gaia's users.

Gaia Review

Gaia is a good platform for yoga classes, meditation, and conscious media. For 9,99/m or $82/y, you get unlimited access to over 8,000 videos on topics of personal development, spiritual growth, alternative healing, expanded consciousness, and more. Gaia offers a free trial, and it is worth its price.

Gaia is a great platform for any avid yogi or a person who enjoys guided meditations. It’s also a treasure trove of new age, spiritual growth, alternative medicine, and personal development content. There are over 8,000 streaming titles available on Gaia, and considering the low price of a monthly subscription, Gaia is definitely worth it. There are some wellness streaming services that offer a more comprehensive library of content, but they are much more expensive.

What Is Gaia.com?

Gaia is a conscious media video company based in Boulder, Colorado, that describes itself as a “member-supported media network of truth-seekers and believers empowering the evolution of consciousness.”

In other words, Gaia is a website that is packed with wellness, new-age content, and over 8,000 consciousness-expanding exclusive videos. Its goal is to empower members with awareness and knowledge. If you are looking for ways to explore your body, mind, and soul, then Gaia is the perfect place to start.

Gaia used to be called Gaiam and focused more on online yoga products and classes until 2015 when it expanded into documentaries and other forms of streaming content similar to Netflix. It now offers a large collection of documentaries, series, and a variety of live streaming events featuring famous speakers and experts.

There is a wide range of content available to stream on Gaia, which is one of the reasons why the platform has become so popular in the last couple of years. Let's take a look and see what you can find in Gaia's library.

Yoga Classes

Gaia offers a large and growing library of ad-free yoga classes that you can view on any device. It allows you to search for a yoga class based on style, your skill level, class length, what you want to focus on (neck and shoulders, hips, core, etc.), teacher, and more.  Most classes last from 10 to 45 minutes. There is also a step-by-step guide for each pose.

Gaia has hundreds of guided meditations available to stream on your computer and other devices. You can search for a meditation based on style, teacher, duration, and skill level. Meditations range from 10 to 30 minutes long and can help address specific concerns like stress, concentration, relaxation, and emotional wellness.

What people don't like about Gaia

What people like about Gaia

Is Gaia Worth It?

Gaia's affordable subscription price of $9,99/m and an extensive library of yoga and meditation classes and documentaries on a wide array of conscious expanding topics such as health, mindfulness, stress relief, and conscious parenting make it worth it. Overall, Gaia is a reputable and legit company.

My Experience With Gaia

Gaia is one of the largest platforms for conscious media, and for me, its subscription price is well worth it. At first, I signed up just to get unlimited access to yoga and meditation classes, but over time, I discovered other videos in the library and I'm really enjoying them now. Of course, some topics are controversial, but for me, that is what makes Gaia so different from any other online learning platform I've tried. Oftentimes, I learn about topics that I haven't even heard about before, and it really expands my consciousness.

The Gaia Apps

Aside from its website, Gaia offers a variety of smartphone and Smart TV apps to help users access content on different types of devices. The apps allow you to access Gaia across devices including Apple, Android, Chromecast, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV. You can also access Gaia from your laptop or computer.

Are Gaia mobile apps worth it?

The Gaia mobile apps are free to download and install. Obviously, you will still need to purchase a subscription from Gaia to view all of the content through the app. The mobile apps are worth downloading if you want to view Gaia content on more devices than just your computer. The apps make it possible to directly stream Gaia content on your phone, tablet, or smart TV without needing to go through the Internet browser. And if you have a busy lifestyle and prefer to learn on the go, then you are going to love Gaia apps.

You can learn more about Gaia apps and devices that you can use here.

Gaia vs. Mindvalley

One of Gaia’s main competitors is Mindvalley, which is another personal growth online platform. Mindvalley focuses more on personal development courses that you can complete online.

Mindvalley is a better program if you are looking for personal enrichment beyond yoga and meditation, however, it does cost more. Mindvalley membership is $99 per month or $499 per year.

I personally am a big fan of Mindvalley, and I believe that it's worth its money. But so does Gaia. So I recommend trying both platforms to see which one you like best.

Is Gaia available worldwide?

Yes, most of Gaia's content - around 90% - is available worldwide. Sometimes, depending on your location, you can get a message that a video is not available in your area due to licensing rights, but that is very uncommon.

Can you download Gaia's videos to watch offline?

Yes, you can download the videos from the library and watch them later offline. This feature is available for all members who use Gaia iOs or Android app. To download a video just go to the video detail screen, click "Save for Offline" and then click "Download Now".

You can download as many videos as you'd like. The downloaded videos can be watched offline for 30 days. After that, you will have to connect to the Internet, and refresh the window to confirm that you still have an active Gaia subscription.

How can you share Gaia videos with non-members?

Gaia has this awesome share feature that allows you to share the content with non-members. To do so, you will need to generate a personalized link and share it with whoever you want. Once the person clicks on the link, the video will be available to him for 72 hours. The link can be shared via Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit, or directly through email.

Most videos can be shared with non-members but there are a few exceptions due to licensing. If you don't see the "Share" option on the video, that means that it cannot be shared. You can share as many videos as you'd like, there is no limit. The videos can be shared from the Gaia website or from their app.

What is Gaia Events+ membership?

At their headquarters in Colorado, Gaia hosts amazing multi-day seminars with world-famous speakers including Dr. Joe Dispenza, Gregg Braden, Caroline Myss, Nassim Haramein, Bruce Lipton, and Graham Hancock. Since not everyone can make it to these events, Gaia decided to create an exclusive Events+ membership that allows to watch seminars in real-time, interact with speakers and ask questions. Events+ members also get full access to the recordings of all past seminars.

The monthly and annual subscriptions do not include access to GaiaSphere events, you would have to upgrade to the Events+ plan to participate in them.

How does the Multiple Profiles feature work?

The Multiple Profiles is another one of Gaia's cool features. It allows members to create up to two additional profiles per subscription. Each profile allows its user to see their own watch history, create playlists, receive personalized recommendations, etc. This is Gaia's way of helping your friends and family members enjoy Gaia.

Does Gaia work on smart TVs?

Yes, you can use Gaia on your smart TV.
