Domestika Review 2024: Is It Worth It?

These days you can learn anything online: from coding and programming to stock and cryptocurrency trading. However, for some reason, it is not as easy to find online courses in the creative fields. Sure, there are some websites that offer courses in writing, drawing, and photography, but their quality often leaves much to be desired. So when I discovered a whole platform dedicated to courses in creative topics, I got very excited. And a bit skeptical. I mean, how good could it be?

In this article, I will share my honest review of Domestika after using the platform for several months. I will talk about its pros and cons, discuss key features, pricing, free classes, and alternatives so that when you finish reading the article, you will know for sure whether Domestika is worth it, or there are better learning platforms out there for you to try.

What Is Domestika? Domestika Review:

Domestika is an online learning platform for creatives that offers courses in business, marketing, design, photography, craft, etc. You have to pay for each course, but the prices are very affordable and there is no expiration date. There is also a whole section of free Domestika courses on the website.

Domestika was founded in 2010 in Spain and today its headquarters is located in Berkley, California. The company has tremendously grown over the past decade and now has millions of users all over the world.

The library has a large selection of courses, such as drawing, fine art, graphic design, digital illustration, photography, arts and crafts, writing, and many others. Unlike many online learning platforms, Domestika focuses on creativity. There are plenty of great software courses on Domestika as well, but in my opinion, the platform caters more to creators.

Is Domestika Worth It?

Domestika is a good online learning platform for those who want to learn or improve creative skills, like art, design, photography, and more. There are courses for all levels. Domestika courses are high-quality and very affordable, many of them cost just $10. Overall, Domestika is worth its price.

I believe that Domestika is the best platform for creatives today. The quality of most courses is superb, and the prices are very low. Some courses are only available in Spanish so you'd have to deal with subtitles, but the catalog of courses in English is rapidly growing. You can also get a refund/exchange for any course within 14 days if it doesn't meet your expectations. The courses don't have an expiration date, you can learn whenever you want to, and once you are done with a course, you will receive a certificate.

If you want to learn photography, computer design, marketing, crafts, illustration, and anything in between, try out Domestika today and take your hobby or career to the next level.

How Does Domestika Work?

After you create a free Domestika account, you can start browsing courses. Once you find a course that you like, you can buy it and get unlimited access to it forever. That means that you can start learning at any time, there are no deadlines. This is great for busy people like me because you can learn whenever you have free time. If you finish the course and complete the final project, you will get a certificate of attendance.

Each course lasts from a couple of hours to 10+ hours and is divided into short lessons. You can watch courses on the website or on the iOS and Android app, and even download them for offline learning on the go.

Domestika Prices

How Much Domestika Courses Cost?

Most Domestika courses cost between $10 and $40 each (the price includes the certificate), and the company often runs promotions. Right now, you can get most courses with a 75% discount. There is also a 20% discount on all courses for those who have an annual Domestika Plus subscription.

Keep in mind, that the prices may vary for purchases made through the website and the app (due to Google Play Store and App Store having their own purchasing conditions). Some discounts and special offers are only available on the website.

Domestika Bundle Discount

Buying courses in bundles can save you some money. There are two ways to do it: you can either purchase one of the set bundles that include 3-6 pre-selected courses or customize your own bundle from the list of available courses.

Domestika bundles usually come with an extra 30-40% discount, and a bundle of several courses may cost you just $20-25.

Domestika Plus Subscription

Domestika Plus is another great way to save money. With the purchase of a monthly subscription, you get one credit each month that you can exchange for any course regardless of its price. You also get an additional 20% discount on all individual courses in the library and on course bundles. Plus members can access all lessons of the open courses and exclusive content and resources. If one course a month won't be enough for you, there is always an option of purchasing additional credits. The price of Domestika Plus varies by location but it is usually cheaper than the cost of any course. And if you opt for an annual subscription, you will get an even better deal.

Domestika Free Courses

Domestika offers a lot of free courses that you can take without having to log into your account. These courses can be found in the KeepOnCreating section on the Domestika website. You can take any course (or all of them) without paying. You will have access to all lessons in the course but you won't be able to download additional resources, obtain a certificate, or comment on course forums - for that you would need to enroll as a full-time student.

Here is a list of some free courses that you can find on Domestika:

What Is Domestika Basics?

Domestika Basics are courses for those who want to learn about software that is most commonly used by creatives. The courses cover topics such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, SketchUp, AutoCAD, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, etc. Domestika Basics are especially good for beginners because most of them do not require any previous knowledge of the software. There are also some courses for experienced professionals who want to enhance their knowledge.

The price of each Domestika Basics course is different, but there are many that cost $10. It is also possible to get a bundle that includes several courses at a discounted price (some bundles can be as low as $10 for the whole series). You pay just once, there will not be any additional fees in the future.

Are Domestika Courses Any Good?

I have tried many online learning platforms in the past, and I think that most Domestika courses are very good. Sometimes you may come across a course that is not so great, but it is rare, and you can always avoid taking it by reading reviews first. Domestika teachers are experts in the fields and all the courses are professionally produced by Domestika itself.

Domestika courses are online and you can learn at your own pace, there are no deadlines or expiration dates. The teachers will share their knowledge through video lessons, resources, and attachments. You will be given assignments and a final project to complete.

Each course has a community where you can connect with fellow students and a teacher to ask questions, publish your project, and exchange ideas. Once you finish a course, you will receive a personalized certificate of attendance.

Domestika FAQ

Most courses on Domestika are not free. However, there is a whole section called KeepOnCreating that has many courses you can take at no cost.

Yes, as a paid member, you can receive certificates for all courses that you finished on Domestika. To obtain a certificate of attendance you need to have all of the course's units marked. The certificate doesn't have an expiration date. You can download it in PDF format and share it with anyone. Domestika certificates include your name, the name of the course, the teacher's name and signature, and a QR code that links to the course project that you have completed. You don't have to meet any deadlines to be eligible to receive a certificate, and you can download certificates for all the courses you have completed in the past.

For me, Domestika is not about gaining a certificate, but rather about learning new skills. And honestly, I don't think that the certificate itself is very valuable. However, if you add a new skill to your resume, that could make a difference.

No, Domestika doesn't have a free trial. But there are some courses that you can take for free.

However, there are some features that are only available on the website. For instance, if you want to build your portfolio and share your projects, you will have to use the Domestika website for that. Domestika has courses in English, Spanish, Dutch, German, Italian, Polish, and French. In the Course's Details, you can see the available languages and subtitles for each course. Some courses have more than one language in the Audio description, which means that the course has both audio in its original language and a voice-over option.

Domestika Alternatives

Domestika is one of my favorite platforms when it comes to online courses that cover creative skills. But is it truly the best one? Here I compiled a list of other online learning platforms and compared it with Domestika.

Domestika vs. Skillshare

Skillshare is one of the most popular online learning platforms. The monthly subscription costs $32 (or $14 with the purchase of annual membership) and includes unlimited access to all 27,000+ classes in the library. Skillshare has a good variety of classes for creatives and considering its low price and high quality of courses it is worth trying.

Domestika vs. Udemy

Udemy is another good platform. Like Domestika, you have to pay for each course separately, and the prices are usually higher. However, the company often runs promotions, and sometimes you can get up to 90% off courses. The quality is either hit or miss, some courses are great, while others lack quality. Make sure to check reviews before buying any course.
