Troubleshooting

0. Make sure you have the latest version of StarsCaption. PokerStars clients are regularly updated, and from time to time these updates are critical for StarsCaption, as a result of which old versions of the program completely or partially stop working with new versions of the poker client. Therefore, if suddenly something stopped working for you, update the program to the latest version, maybe your problem has already been solved there.

1. StarsCaption must be configured to run as admin:

Right click on the program shortcut, then click on Properties, select the Compatibility tab and turn on this option:

Some options of StarsCaption also require this option for PokerStars, so configure run as admin for PokerStars client too.

2. Computer clock must be synchronized with the internet (and link for Windows 10).

Otherwise, the program may not work, giving a message "License server is not responding".

3. StarsCaption closes when the tables opened.

The program is work in demo mode now, its free for microstakes only. If the program detects any other table, it closes automatically.

You need to request the trial to use it on any stakes.

To do it, run the poker client, login and do not open tables. Click 'License / Request for Trial'

You can use one month trial after registering.

4. Add StarsCaption and the poker client executables to an antivirus exception list, if any.

5. Choose English in a poker client settings

6. Some hotkeys stop working - at first try to check #1 and #4 from this list.

Also the operation of mouse hotkeys (and moving of HUD panels too) can be affected by other programs that intercept keyboard or mouse, if they do not have admin rights (including PokerStars client, if you use own Stars hotkeys there). It can be screenshot or video capturing programs, mouse or keyboard utilities, Hold'em manager, etc. Try to close all such programs and check how it will work.

After that, you can run them one by one and thus find the problem. Configure this program to run as admin - this should solve the problem. Also you can try to click Options / Reset hotkeys - it can help, but usually only for a short time (you can also try to enable Auto reset there).

As an alternative solution to the problem, you can enable the Options / Alternative method of a mouse processing in HUD option. With this option, clicks on a HUD panels will be processed in an alternative way, in which the indicated problems will not appear. It has one side effect - in this method, the program will not be able to recognize clicks on the invisible parts of the panels (if the panel has an invisible background enabled using the Background / Invisible option). Also, this method will not be able to fix the operation of mouse hotkeys.
