Events and Groups September 2021

Longhorsley Village Hall

We are ready to welcome many of the groups back in September.

To safeguard Hall users we’ve had a full professional Covid clean of the building by AFR Carpet Cleaning, and group organisers have agreed to ensure all areas and equipment used by them will be cleaned after use.

We also recommend that masks are worn indoors before and after sessions, safe distances are maintained throughout and hand sanitisers are regularly used.

We want you to feel safe while you enjoy meeting up with friends and neighbours again.

We will meet in the main hall, seats will be spaced and masks and hand sanitiser recommended for everyone’s comfort.

Our speaker will be Billy Ricalton introducing his newly published book Longhorsley in WW2, a fascinating read and copies will be available on the night. All welcome, come and join us.
Billy will give a talk about the book and the village in the war and copies will be available to purchase.
This was a very interesting period in the village’s history so put the date in your diary!

Longhorsley WI

Twelve members (plus one potential) enjoyed a pleasant picnic lunch in the Old Church Wood at the beginning of August. We caught up with Federation news and prospective events before catching up with each others’ news. Again, the weather was kind to us - shame about the flying ants and Elaine’s ankle accident, though!

Our first meeting back in Longhorsley Village Hall will be on Thursday, 2nd September, at 7.30 pm. We have no speaker arranged so that we can have a pleasant social night - in reality - after such a long time apart.

We will adhere to the social distancing Guidelines set out by the Village Hall committee so please wear a mask to enter the Hall and also make use of the hand sanitisers provided.

Perhaps you could also bring along your red wool and knitting needles and knit poppies whilst you chat! Instruction can be given, if required. We will be able to catch up on how many have been produced and whether we need to step up production to make a display!

Please feel free to come along and join us (with or without poppies).

Longhorsley Playgroup

Playgroup are now open Mondays10:30am till 6pm, Tue/Wed/Thur 7:30am till 6pm and Fridays 7:30am till 1:30pm.

At the beginning of the summer holidays we had a team meeting with all the children about what they would like to do over the summer. I think we have managed to tick everything off their very long list from going on a cow hunt, making giant bubbles, having a teddy bears’ picnic and even a pony morning. We have had the best summer ever. Thank you everyone for making it amazing.

Remember you can follow all of playgroups adventures by following us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

We try and post as many updates as we can so you can see what we are up too.
