Picture / Video Tools

In an age of customization and self expression, students love to put their "own touch" on the work they do. In class, we use these web2.0 tools to create video productions on topics of their choice. You might create videos on your friends, hobbies, or sports. You might even just create one on random pictures you find and like. Either way, you will enjoy it.

Where could you use this tool in school? What about a presentation for History, English or Art?

Animoto.com

Allows you to create a short video for free. By utilizing their free trial, you can create a multi-minute video using pictures, videos and music. The site has over 2,000 songs in its library to choose from, or you can upload your own. Additionally, you can upload your own pictures and music, use theirs, or even use a combination of the two.

Examples:

Holiday themed - student example

Evolution of Rock - student example

"Someone" - student example

Photopeach.com will allow about 24 pictures for a longer video and is also free. Just as with Animoto, you can use your own, their pictures and music, or a combination of the two. If you use Photopeach, you don't need to convert a Youtube video, it will do it for you right on the site. Very cool!
