Online Timeline Creators

This is a tool that would great for just about any class. You can create a literal timeline (and even co-create one with classmates) for any set of events. In class we make an autobiographical one. Where else could you use it?

English - biography of an author, plot of a story

History - battles in a war, presidential listing

Art - artist's works, artists in a genre / medium

Science - events of an experiment, events in an "age"

...The list is endless

http://www.preceden.com/ costs money but allows you to try it for free with a max of 5 events. It is unique in that it allows multiple "layers" so events can run simultaneously on the same yet different timeline.

http://www.timetoast.com/ is free and more "dynamic" in that it changes as you move your mouse across the screen. It also lets you print in a text view that shows all of your information in a table format.

http://www.xtimeline.com/index.aspx is free and allows you to set the privacy settings to private or even private except for those with the password you assign.

Students are required to create a personal timeline of their life that includes 10-15 items. Link should be saved as a shortcut on the M Drive
