Lambertville Shad Fest
Every year Hunterdon Watercolor Society artists donate art to the Shad Festival in Lambertville. This year, our group's donated art raised over $3000 for the Shad Festival Arts Scholarship Fund which awards scholarships to students from the Delaware River Towns sending districts who are pursuing a collegiate career in arts.

Creating Bold Spontaneous Watercolor Paintings
Joe Gyurcsak was our guest artist, for our February meeting. He did a demonstration using Mitz Terraskin stone paper. It's an interesting surface that produces unique results.
Joseph studied art at School of Visual Arts and Parsons School of Design in NYC as well as Kean University in NJ. Just this last year, Joseph won the Bold Brush Outstanding Watercolor Award from FASO as well as exhibiting in FL, AZ, PA, WI, NJ, and TX. Locally, you may have seen his work at the Bucks County Plein Air Festival, Phillips Mills 87th Annual Juried Exhibition or the Garden State Watercolor Society 47th Annual Juried Show.
Joseph is the Resident Artist / Brand Manager for Blick / Utrecht Art Supplies. He is author of painting articles, instructor, juror and art materials expert. Joseph also travels extensively conducting lectures, painting demonstrations and workshops at major art institutions throughout the United States.

HWS Monthly Meeting: January 9, 2017
Kathyann paints primarily in watercolors. After studies in art at Bucks County Community College, Temple University's Tyler School of Art, Locust Street Studios in Philadelphia and The Art Students' League in New York City, Ms. Finch received a Bachelor's degree in art from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Most recently, she completed a two and half year study program with the Society of Botanical Art in London, England and received a Long Distance Diploma Course certificate with credit from the society.
Paintings by Kathyann are displayed throughout shows in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Kathyann will be demonstrating a color layering technique she discovered while practicing exercises in her botanical painting study book. She hopes you like the technique and try this color layering method on your own.

Henrieta Maneva's painting Stephansdom Vienna was juried into the Philadelphia Sketch Club 2017 Works on Paper Juried show. The awards reception is Sunday, January 15, 2-4pm.
