Not To The Media Center, But To The NGO’s

I worked for the Kennisbank Filantropie in 2012/2013 in Hilversum. I wrote about the work there the CVblog ’Data-manager Kennisbankfilantropie’. Kennisbank Filantropie was all about NGO’s. I was commuting 3 days a week between Utrecht and Hilversum and walking to my workspace from the station. During this walk I saw lots of architecture from Dudok I thought, but some where of his students I learnt during the architecture tour. As was the building I was working in back them, part of Independer. A beautiful old school building transformed to the needs of an office.

Dudok

Hilversum was again on my mind when I saw that there was an architecture walking tour in the city of Hilversum. Before the tour I thought Dudok was there only famous architect. I was wrong, because almost the whole city was built by famous architects and their students. The students worked in the same style as the students of Rembrandt did with paintings.

Live In Hilversum?

When working in Hilversum I looked around in the city to see if I wanted to live in this place. I liked the architecture and the green of the city, but most of the houses were big. Most of the houses around the center of Hilversum are full of history and if lucky built by a famous architect or their students. I stayed commuting from Utrecht instead of following in the footsteps of the Amsterdammers back then who built their villa in Hilversum and surroundings and started commuting to their work in Amsterdam or Utrecht later on.

Hilversum Is Surrounded By Green

One of the things that made me look for a home in Hilversum was the location of the station in the center and the beautiful surroundings. I hiked a few hikes around Hilversum, all of them are beautiful and worth recommending. I liked the one in Soest the most, because of the dunes! All these hikes start around the stations in ‘t Gooi as did the architecture tour which starts and ends at the Media Park in Hilversum. On this tour I walked through neighborhoods of Hilversum I didn’t know yet, with lots of architecture beauty. I came to the same conclusion as when I was working at the Kennisbank Filantropie beautiful surroundings and beautiful villas but to big of a house for me!
