More With Formulas In Excel

I want to do more with formulas than add in Excel. That is a frequently heard 'complaint' about Excel. In this blog I explain which formula types there are in Excel.

Kind Of Formulas In Excel

Excel has many possibilities to make complex calculations with formulas, but the formulas can also be used to manage my data better or to search for things. Excel divides the formulas into the following 7 categories:

• Financial: Calculates financial calculations such as interest, return, turnover, etc.

• Logical: With logical functions I can check if things are correct or if something is excluded or included. Examples: if (if a condition is met, the formula is executed or returns a value), where (I enter a value and if it matches, I get a true), etc.

• Text: Allows me to customize texts. For example: Remove spaces (all spaces will be erased), Length (indicates how long a text is in a cell), Merge text (can merge texts from different cells in a cell), etc.

• Date / Time: Date (convert the day I enter into Microsoft codes), minute (calculates day, year, month to minutes), days 360 (calculates the number of days between 2 dates, assuming 360 days in a year) , etc.

• Search & Reference: Horizontal Search (searches for a specified value in the first row of the table and returns the answer from the corresponding column), Transpose (changes vertically to horizontal), Vertical Search (searches for a specified value in the most left column and then output in that row returns the corresponding answer), etc.

• Mathematics and trigonometry: Rounding (round numbers), sum. (Calculates on anything that meets the criteria), root (calculates the root of a number), etc.

• Other Features: Below are more features grouped by:

  • Statistics: Below I will find useful formulas such as Number (counts number of cells with a value), but also more complicated static calculations such as standard deviation.

  • Technique: Below are formulas to calculate technical matters.

  • Cube: Performs all kinds of cube calculations

  • Information: Checks information for example: Is.even (or number is even), ISText (checks if value is in cell text). 

Use Formula In Excel

But how do I use the formula in Excel? Stand in the cell. Click the Insert function in the Formulas tab. In the opened screen, choose the formula to use. For each formula, Excel also indicates which condition it expects from me as an input.
