These races are closed events. They are only open to WA registered runners in each of the 9 clubs within the group:
Islwyn RC, Lliswerry Runners, Chepstow Harriers, Griffithstown Harriers, Spirit of Monmouth RC, Parc Bryn Bach RC, Pont-y-Pwl & District Runners, Fairwater Runners Cwmbran and Caerleon RC.
Furthermore, it is the responsibility of each runner to ensure they wear a a number & chip at each event.
No number/chip = no result for you (don't start without one). Also, wrong number = no result
The GLCL committee has decided that runners requiring new numbers/chips must fill out an on-line form before midnight the previous day. Runners will be able to pick their new number/chip up at the event.
It will not be possible to fill out a form on the day of the event to get a new chip/number.
If you order a new number - that's the one that will be in the results system - do not wear your old one (as you won't count)!
If you order a new number, collect well before 15 mins of the race start, as the finish team need to get to the start to record the start time. If you arrive late there won't be anyone at the van to give you your number.
For the new season 2024/25 - Road and XC, we will be using new numbers and chips.
Your club will be asking you if you wish to take part so that a new number can be allocated.
You cannot use your old number - it will not be detected at the finish - please bin it
General Chip Timing Musts/Must nots
No number/chip = no result for you (don't start without one)
Wear the number most recently allocated - if you use an old one you find at home and it's not currently registered to you, you will not appear in the results
Please make sure you do not hold your hand over your number/chip when you cross the finish line - hold arms to side or above your head. You may not get registered by the system and the backup video at the finish will not record your number.
Please do not get close to the timing equipment (finish) once you've been through the finish once. Repeated 'pings' slow down the results system
Please do not take unused chips (from runners who are not running) close to the finish.... otherwise those not attending will appear in the results.
Chip Timing General Information
Runners wear a race number on their chest with a chip attached to the back. Wearing a number on your shorts is normally not allowed ... but if you do this please make sure the number is visible at the front since we need to see it on the backup video at the finish.
As you finish your chip is registered by the timing equipment and your finish time is automatically uploaded to the race software.
Chepstow Harriers will manage the chip timing system on the day.
Chepstow will then publish race results the same day showing each runner's time and category position. Team results will also be available. These are not the official results - these to be published by Marc Cross (Griff) later in the week after any edits or changes are undertaken.
New/replacement numbers.
Individuals can be given additional race numbers at each event (if their first one goes missing) and new club runners can also be given one at the event. Application for this must be made before midnight the day before. Runners will not be able to fill out a form on the day of the event.
Note that each additional number will cost your club £2.
