Popcorn
Face it parents: we grew up in a different time. As kids, nothing was handed to us. We either worked or helped to earn our rewards: money, an activity with friends, or just something we really wanted. Scouting still believes in and stands for the core value of earning! After all, a Scout is thrifty.
Benefits to Your Scout and Family:
Teaches Scouts the value and process of setting and working toward goals
Gives Scouts a strong sense of accomplishment through recognition
Enhances communication, leadership skills and confidence in your Scout
Scouts can earn valuable rewards including gift cards and prizes
Ways to Sell:
Take Orders
The Scout, with their Akela, goes door to door with a Take Order Form.
Scouts that sold popcorn last year should receive an order form in the mail. If you did not receive one, or are new to Scouting, contact the Popcorn Kernel to pick up an Order Form. They may be available at the Popcorn Kickoff.
The customer writes his/her order on the Take Order Form and the Scout collects the money.
The Scout processes the order and delivers the Popcorn to the Customer in a few weeks.
Selling at Work
Mom and/or Dad take an order form to their work.
Fellow co-workers write their order on the order form.
Mom and/or Dad deliver product and collect the money in a few weeks.
(It is best to collect the money upfront when possible)
Show and Sells
Show and Sells make up a big part of our popcorn program. We've obtained permission from several stores to set up a sales table.
Show and Sells have products on-hand for people to buy immediately.
Scouts work at the table in shifts. Always with adult supervision.
The Scouts earn money for their accounts based on the hours they work and the total sales of the Show and Sell.
Show and Sell dates and times are listed on the right hand side of this page and on the Pack calendar.
Popcorn Blitz
Everyone meets at one location and canvasses the adjacent neighborhood.
Popcorn is available to deliver at the time of the blitz.
Scouts can also create their own Show and Sell
Scouts can set up their own Show and Sell by reaching out to local businesses, churches or other organizations and getting permission to set up a table for sales. If you do, be sure to let us know. We're happy to help you by coordinating other Scout's participation and providing the popcorn!
