CONVERSIONS - While most camelbacks ended their days as center cab locomotives, many were converted to engines with a single cab behind the firebox. Some examples follow.

DELAWARE & HUDSON

B-6 Class 0-8-0 94 was an E-3a 2-8-0 rebuilt in 1925.

B-7 Class 0-8-0 155 was an E-5 2-8-0.

2-8-0 No.912 was built as an E-3a Class camelback built by Schenectady in 1904, was rebuilt in 1926 and scrapped in 1952.

E-3a class 2-8-0 938 was built as a camelback by Cooke in 1903 and survived until 1948

E-5 Class 1034 was built as camelback by Schenectady in 1908 and survived until 1951.

G-5 Class 446 was built as a camelback by Schenectady in 1903 and survived until 1950.

4-6-0 Type No.522 was built as a camelback by Schenectady in 1904 and scrapped in 1951.

D-3b Class 4-6-0 No.556 was built as a camelback by Schenectady in 1907 and survived until 1951.

ERIE RAILROAD

L-1 2600 was built as an 0-8-8-0 camelback by Schenectady in 1907 and rebuilt by Baldwin in 1921. Scrapped in 1930.

DELAWARE, LACKAWANNA & WESTERN

G-4b Class No.970 was built as a camelback by Baldwin in 1904, rebuilt in 1937 and scrapped in 1944.

H-2b Class 1009 was built as a camelback by Schenectady in 1905.

1011 was built as a camelback by Schenectady in 1905, was converted in 1938 and scrapped in 1942.

READING RAILROAD

L-6sa Class 616 was built as a camelback by Baldwin in 1905 and after a wreck in 1928 was rebuilt as shown with

Caprotti poppet valve gear. Retired in 1945.

MAINE CENTRAL - PORTLAND TERMINAL

811 was built as a camelback by Manchester in 1906 and rebuilt after being assigned to the Portland Terminal in 1911.
