Instructor Bios


Stephen Sturgil

 

Steve brings multiple levels of expertise to motivating employees. Steve has more than thirty five years of experience as an instructor and motivator of corporate personnel. He has been involved as a human factors instructor for over twenty years with a Delta Connection airline and KMI, a heavy equipment dealership. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kentucky and accomplished post graduate work in Guidance and Counseling at the University of Louisville. Beginning his career as a secondary education teacher in Louisville, KY, Steve taught courses in social studies, science and math and for two years, chaired a social studies department. This experience led to his becoming the Training Coordinator for Kentucky Machinery (KMI).  There, he facilitated classes to all personnel in the corporation covering motivational techniques, dealing with sales skill sets and customer service.  Steve eventually became involved in aviation, first as a corporate pilot and then airline captain.  While performing these duties, he was employed in training departments. Steve eventually was chairman of the fifteen member Crew Resource Management (CRM) Human Factors department at Comair Airlines coordinating courses in communication, teambuilding, workload management, awareness, error management and decision making.

 

Steve has consulted and evaluated human factors training in conjunction with American, Horizon, Pinnacle, Jazz, Frontier, Delta and Southwest Airlines.  He coordinated as chairman one of the A4A Airline Transport Association annual meetings for over 300 attendees representing the US Armed Forces, national and international airlines, manufacturers and training organizations.  Anyone attending his classes discovers his teaching and facilitator styles are exemplary. Steve instructs for multiple Flight Schools as an active CFI with thousands of hours experience in TAA, complex, and basic aircraft to this day.
