BERKELEY

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. UC Berkeley - The Lawrence Hall of Science (1 Centennial Drive). Explore solar science and witness a solar eclipse! For the second time in six months, a partial solar eclipse will be visible from Berkeley. Join us for safe solar viewing, solar activities, and expert explanations of how solar eclipses happen. From here, the Moon will cover approximately 35% of the Sun. Eclipse glasses for sale leading up to and during the eclipse. See webpage, for details and admission charge.

DANVILLE
10:10am - 12:15pm. Danville Library. Mt Diablo Astronomical Society (MDAS) is doing an Eclipse Outreach event at the the library located at 400 Front Street. Guests will observe the partial eclipse with both White Light and Hydrogen Alpha filtered scopes, Eclipse glasses. MDAS members will answer questions. See webpage

LOS ALTOS

OAKLAND

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Chabot Space & Science Center (10000 Skyline Blvd) ...our last chance to experience a solar eclipse in our own back yard until 2045! Experience this amazing celestial event from Chabot’s Observation Deck, where we’ll have a stellar view of the sun as it passes through 34% totality over Oakland. SONOMA COUNTY
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Robert Ferguson Observatory. The Valley of the Moon Observatory Association (VMOA) We will only see about 30% of the eclipse here in Northern California, but it is still an event not to miss! We will hold an “open house” style event at the observatory. Stop by to see a livestream of the full total eclipse in our classroom and engage in some other activities at the observatory. Solar eclipse glasses will be available for purchase. This is a free event, but the Sugarloaf Ridge State Park day use parking fee will be required. SAN FRANCISCO
10am - 12:30pm. Exploratorium Eclipse Viewing Party - Join us for an immersive experience of the solar eclipse! We're hosting an eclipse watch party at Pier 15. View live telescope images of the total solar eclipse from Texas and Mexico. Learn safe viewing techniques from our educators, and engage in fun activities while learning about the science of the eclipse. Visitors will get a free pair of solar viewing glasses while supplies last. Can't come to the party in person? No worries! SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY
10:00 AM - 12:30 PM   Free viewing of the solar eclipse through San Francisco State telescopes!
SFSU observatory docents will have solar viewing equipment set up on the SF State campus for free viewing by the public at two locations: on the plaza at the main (south) entrance to Thornton Hall and one in the quad near the Cesar Chavez Student Center (see campus map).  Equipment for viewing the Sun safely will include solar telescopes, solar glasses, and Sunspotters, which project an image of the Sun.  Astronomy students and faculty will be on hand to talk about what's happening as the Moon spends a leisurely two hours making its way across the face of the Sun.  Best viewing from about 10:30 am - 12:00 pm; maximum eclipse at 11:13 am when the Moon will cover about 1/3 of the Sun for Bay Area viewers.
