The day began with informative sessions on various aspects of water, its sources, the water cycle, and its role in sustaining life on Earth. Students were engaged in interactive discussions, presentations, and multimedia content to make learning about water enjoyable and insightful.

Experiments with Water:

Following the educational sessions, students were divided into groups, each led by a teacher. They participated in hands-on experiments and activities to better understand the properties of water, the concept of buoyancy, and the importance of water conservation. Some of the experiments included:
a. The Water Cycle Model: Students created a miniature water cycle model to observe how water evaporates, condenses, and precipitates.
b. Water Filtration: Students learned about water purification methods and participated in a simple water filtration experiment to comprehend the importance of clean water.

Poster Creation:

After gaining insights into water and its significance, students were encouraged to express their thoughts creatively through poster-making. Each group was tasked with creating a poster highlighting the importance of saving water. The posters showcased vibrant artwork, slogans, and information to spread awareness about water conservation.

School Water-Saving Rules:

As part of the event, students collaborated to establish a set of water-saving rules for the school. These rules aimed at promoting responsible water usage and included actions like turning off taps when not in use, reporting leaks, and using water-saving fixtures. These rules were intended to create a sustainable and water-conscious school environment.

Conclusion:

International Water Day at TKVG was a resounding success. It provided students with a holistic understanding of water, its role in the environment, and the importance of saving this precious resource. The combination of educational sessions, hands-on experiments, poster creation, and the establishment of water-saving rules made the event a memorable and educational experience for all the participants. It emphasized the need for water conservation, not only within the school but also in the wider community. Such initiatives are crucial in creating environmentally responsible and conscious citizens who understand the significance of water and its sustainable use.

Application Garden Report - "Vitamins on the Windowsill" Project

Application Garden Report - "Vitamins on the Windowsill" Project

Project Overview:

In response to the challenging weather conditions preventing us from planting in the spring and the inability to maintain plants during the summer holidays when students are away, we implemented the "Vitamins on the Windowsill" project. This project aimed to engage all primary school students in a gardening project that could be managed within the school building.

Project Details:

The project commenced in early spring when it was still too cold to plant outdoors. All primary school students actively participated in this project. Each class was provided with small pots, soil, and a selection of seeds for vegetables and herbs. The students learned about the different plants, how to plant and care for them, and the importance of fresh produce for their health.

Achievements:

The project was a remarkable success. Here are some of the key achievements:

Active Participation: All primary school students eagerly embraced the project and showed great enthusiasm in taking care of their plants.

Learning Opportunities: Students gained valuable knowledge about gardening, plant growth, and the nutritional benefits of the vegetables and herbs they were growing.

Hands-On Experience: This project allowed students to have a hands-on experience in gardening, promoting practical skills and a deeper connection to nature.

Healthy Lifestyle Awareness: Through the project, students developed an understanding of the importance of incorporating fresh, homegrown produce into their diets for a healthier lifestyle.

Challenges:

While the project was a success, there were some challenges faced:

Limited Space: Growing plants on windowsills was space-limited. Some classes had to get creative with their arrangements.

Light and Temperature: Variations in light and temperature near the windowsill affected plant growth. Some plants required extra attention to thrive.

Future Plans:

To build on the success of "Vitamins on the Windowsill," we are considering the following for future projects:

Seasonal Rotation: Implement a rotating schedule of plant growth projects throughout the school year, exploring different types of plants that can thrive in various conditions.

Community Involvement: Encourage parents and the community to participate, providing opportunities for students to learn from experienced gardeners.

Sustainability: Investigate ways to make our school garden more sustainable, such as composting and rainwater harvesting.

We are proud of the "Vitamins on the Windowsill" project and its positive impact on our students. We believe that it has not only enriched their knowledge but also instilled a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the environment. We look forward to continuing such projects to inspire future generations of young gardeners.
