I am currently writing a series of books on "Surviving a Doctoral Program and Thriving!" to assist individuals pursuing a doctoral degree. Using experiences from my own time as a doctoral candidate, I hope to help others overcome obstacles they may face while obtaining a doctorate.

Incorporating Theoretical Models in Research: Revising Existing Frameworks

Abstract

This case focuses on a component of a three-article aging and public health dissertation, which incorporated a revised stress process theoretical model to examine potential racial differences in well-being in a nationally representative sample of White and Black family caregivers. Utilizing theoretical models in aging and public health research is important as they serve as guiding frameworks and allow other researchers to replicate studies by testing revised or modified models. Modifying existing theoretical models can build upon previous research and allow researchers to investigate and incorporate new components that have not been accounted for in previous studies.
