Film Discussion 1:

Brown Cotton Outreach presents "Bucket Jail"

Friday 16 April 2021 ~ 8:00 - 9:00am Pacific

Using elements of psychosynthesis and “Carnival Theatre”, the Programme has created a group of performers, directors and writers now known as the Transformer Performers. The Programme has a “fundamental” restorative justice approach. The aim is to give participants who have been put away and silenced by society, a voice. Our Programme recognizes that these “thrown away people” have a contribution to make and their lived experiences have value as stories or “cautionary tales” for others.

We will screen a “Theatre of Carnival” cautionary tale called BUCKET JAIL. The piece was written collaboratively with the Programme participants. It was filmed live at CARIFESTA 2019 (a West Indian regional arts fair that occurs every 4 years).

This will be followed by a discussion of the Programme by facilitators Ellen O’Malley Camps and Wayne Lee-Sing.

O’Malley Camps, the Programme’s founder, designer and artistic director, is creator of the Camps Carnival Theatre Technique used throughout the Programme as a culturally relevant process toward human development and enrichment.

Lee-Sing is the project writer, technical director and videographer.
