UWArchPAC Goals/Strategies

Mission: The University of Washington Department of Architecture Professionals Advisory Council (UWArchPAC) sustains the connection of architectural education & the design workplace, supporting a range of interactive programs engaging practicing architects & design professionals with Department faculty, students, & staff.

The UWArchPAC conducts regular review of the goals and objectives developed at the time of its origination, in 1995.

Current version, as reviewed September 2015:

Goals:

1. to offer feedback about the evolving realities and ethics of practice to the Department of Architecture.

2. to act as a liaison between the Department of Architecture and the community of architectural practitioners.

3. to help access resources to assist Department faculty, students, and staff better understand the professional practice of architecture and associated career paths.

4. to engage with professionals advisory groups associated with other departments within the College of Built Environments.

Strategies:

1. to provide recommendations and support for aspects of the Department's programs that build the professional merit of its graduates.

2. to help develop and maintain transitional programs, such as internships, that assist students in developing their careers.

3. to support continuing education for practicing architects in diverse career paths.

4. to help the Department access resources from the professional community for the benefit of its students, faculty, and staff.
