Some good news today...

Last week BMW Battersea offered some assistance with servicing my 1200GS for the journey. They also offered to supply a set of offroad tyres!

Went to the Sudan Embassy this morning, on advice of another adventure rider that will be doing the same trip in September with two of his friends. I arrived at 9:00, however the doorman let me know that the embassy only opens at 9:30. The website sais that they open at 9:00! Anyway it only took 1,5hrs to get my application approved, I then had to pay £55 and they advised that it will be ready at 15:00. When I arrived at 15:00 I had to wait 25 minutes and got the Visa. Amazing stuff as my other visas for Egypt, France, Tanzania and Uganda took some months to organise. What is also surprising is that the advice on their website as well as other visa websites are that the visa could take up to three months to get approved! Just shows you how difficult it could be when you dont know the right channels and dont get accurate info on the internet. Even the advice on the motorbike forums advise that the Visa for Sudan can only be applied for in Cairo! Well, its good news because now I dont need to stay over in Cairo. Those who have been to Cairo before will know that its just chaos in the city, not a very pleasant plave to stay in...

Not much left to do before I st off on the 29th of July.
