Gypsy & Traveller Liaison

Gypsy & Traveller Liaison provides an advocacy service for Gypsies and Travellers, ensuring that their rights are protected and that their needs are provided for by those with the power to do so.

Gypsies And Travellers are an ethnic minority who have been part of Welsh society for centuries. Their long shared history, cultural values, language, customs and traditions make them a self-defined group and one that is recognisable and distinct. Gypsies and Travellers are proud of their identity and we aim to foster a public acceptance of their ethnicity, so they can achieve their fullest potential and play an active role in Welsh society.

Proactive in relation to Gypsies and Travellers issues and rights, we are committed to collective action. We challenge structural inequalities, and encourage participation through community development. Our liaison worker supports clients throughout Gwent, and is an advocate for those who cannot express their views or wishes publicly, empowering those who can with a direct platform to the media and Welsh Government.
