Grand Valley Challenge Course

Grand Valley Challenge Course

The Grand Valley Challenge Course (GVCC) is a dedicated outdoor learning space. Working to improve the whole person and whole team.

POSSIBLE OBJECTIVES

Custom experience for all groups

SEASON

LOCATION

460 Stone Quarry Road, Battlement Mesa, CO

Challenge by Choice | Participants will stretch comfort zones but will never be required to do something they do not choose to do. The Challenge by Choice ropes course is an effective mental health exercise. It encourages emotional, physical and intellectual growth. The course is a three-phase program of outdoor group activities using a series of elements including ropes, cables and logs creating various obstacles or “challenges.”

The individual’s right not to participate is always respected, thus creating the “choice.” The mental health group activities are not competitions. They are opportunities to develop communication, trust, leadership and problem-solving skills. Individuals are challenged to go beyond their perceived limitations and to take safe risks as the group supports them. Challenge by Choice builds on relationships which develop team spirit and cooperation. It also creates a sense of reward and accomplishment.

Interested in becoming a Facilitator?

We are seeking individuals to become certified Facilitators on the high and/or low ropes.

Please check out the Facilitator Job Description for more information. Please note that facilitators must attend an annual 5 day training in summer before they may be certified to facilitate on the course.

How to Schedule Groups on GVCC

Please email Ari at aphilipson@garfiled16.org to notify that you'd like to schedule programming AND fill out the Needs Assessment Survey. Group programing is dependant on facilitator availability and prioritizes educational groups when scheduling.
