HISTORY

In 2017, after several years of community planning, Great Outdoors Colorado awarded Garfield County Outdoors (GCO) and its partners $1.5 million to connect youth and families with the outdoors. This funding allowed GCO and partners to provide free and paid programming. GCO received an additional 1.2 million from GOCO in 2020 to continue our work in breaking down barriers to outdoor participation in our community.

GCO is one of 12 Generation Wild communities throughout Colorado. Each one brings together a coalition of organizations investing Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) funding to break down barriers to getting youth and families outside. These communities are creating incredible places for recreation and designing outdoor programs for all ages and abilities.
