PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Scott has been working in the outdoors for over 10 years, starting at the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) where he worked numerous jobs including winter hut caretaker and running logistics for the AMC's outdoor programming/backcountry shelters in New Hampshire's White Mountains. Eventually, he moved to Colorado in 2014 to lead mentor-based youth ski and snowboard programs at various ski areas throughout Colorado in the winters and managed wilderness programs for SOS Outreach in the White River National Forest in the summers. He's been the Garfield County Outdoors Program Director since June 2020 and also works part-time as a river guide in the summer. He is currently certified as a Wilderness First Responder (and Wilderness First Aid Instructor) and holds certifications in swift water rescue (ACA Level 4), AIARE Avalanche Level 1 + Rescue, ACCT Challenge Course 1, Leave No Trace Master Educator, and is the current Western Colorado State Advocate for Leave No Trace. Additionally, he has completed the NOLS Risk Management Training. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and holds a B.A. in Political Science with an Arabic minor.
