UNM Community Environmental Health Program

The Community Environmental Health Program (CEHP) is a multidisciplinary team who collaborates with communities and researchers to identify concerns. It also forms partnerships and improves environmental health awareness in Native American communities. The CEHP is funded by and works with federal, state and local agencies.

UNM Center for Native Environmental Health Equity

The Center for Native Environmental Health Equity is a tribal, academic, nongovernmental partnership that addresses long-standing inequities in environmental health. Current research participants include: Navajo Nation, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Missouri Breaks Industries and Crow Tribe. As the program expands, tribes from the Pacific Northwest will take part in the study, as well. The Center includes three university research programs and three tribal nations: Navajo Nation, Crow Tribe and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. Our academic partners include Montana State University and University of Washington. The Center’s cores and projects emphasize native-focused community engagement around environmental and biomedical research. Our career development interns work with the cores and projects to learn research skills, work with communities, learn research translation, interpretation and use of environmental and biomedical results across the communities. A P50 Center of Excellence in Environmental Health Disparities Research funded jointly by grants from National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences & National Institute for Minority Health Disparities (1P50ES026102) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (#83615701).
